This ongoing unpublished project is an attempt to capture a journey through a landscape of emotional geography using visual and written mediums. Documenting people, places, the self, through the creation of portraiture and conceptual photography as well as landscape that is drawn deep from within personal experience, I hope to create a space contrasted with memory, emotion and imagination; a space that invites reflection and stirs something within the depths of our collective unconscious.
Emotional Geography initially began as a poetic and cathartic exercise and has slowly taken shape, continuing to develop, into an important portrait series. It is an exploration of self and other, contrasted by nature and human connection. I have drawn out elements of each person I have photographed but at the same time have not been able to help projecting elements of my own state of being onto their capture. The result is an exploration of self and other, contrasted by nature and human connection.
