Deep in Their Roots, All Flowers Keep the Light is the published trade edition of D'Addario's handmade artist's book Farewell Angelina, developed following its selection as the winner of the 2019 Photolux International Photobook Award. While retaining the work's central enquiry into photography, memory and grief, this edition reconsiders the project through the expanded possibilities of publication, making the work accessible to a broader public while preserving its poetic and material sensibility.
Combining photography, archival imagery, text and layered material interventions, the publication reflects on the capacity of photographic practice to give form to absence, inheritance and lived experience. Moving between autobiography and metaphor, the work considers the artist's book as a space where memory is not simply represented but materially constructed through sequencing, juxtaposition and embodied acts of reading.
